Oh F-It!

I had full intention on doing some “List” shopping today.  Particularly I wanted a really nice cardigan.  I was allowing myself $150 because I am doing really well on my budget this month.  First I started at The Rack, then Macy’s, then J.Crew, then Loft, then Ann Taylor, then Banana Republic.  I think you get the point.  They were all just so-so, kind of itchy, not he slouchy Boyfriend shape I am craving.  I landed on one at Banana Republic that was ok; I wasn’t leaving this trip without something to show for it.  Before I bought the cardi I thought it really needed some grey legggings to go with it so I shot down to Forever 21.  That is when this happened:

Here was the thing, it started with the cute heart tank top, then I saw a matching cardigan.  It was soft and flowy.  I grabbed it.  Then I saw another one.  I grabbed it. And so on and so on.  Guess what?  I spent $156 on 8 items. I did inspect the quality of anything over $10, a couple of the tee are probably throw away, but for $5 it was worth it.  I know I said I wasn’t going ot buy anymore throw away clothes but honestly a couple of the items I got are fantastic and well made.  I also found a dress I have ben serching for forever!

So F-It, I am shopping at Forever 21. You can’t stop me.

Feature a Friend: The Air Conditioned Gypsy

I love this blog.  To be honest when I started reading it I kind of wanted to hate Ra, but only because she’s so damn cool.  Like the kind of cool I always wanted to be.  Jealous.  Want proof?  She’s in Paul McCartney’s “Good Evening New York City” concert DVD six times and Patti Boyd is her style icon.  In case you haven’t guessed: Ra loves classic rock, like love loves.  Don’t even get her started on the Beatles.

Ra is quirky a public relations/fashion merchandising student at Texas Tech University.  The Air Conditioned Gypsy follows her personal life with sense of humor and, of course, amazing style. This blog is a must read. The Air Conditioned Gypsy is a refreshing oasis in the world of dry fashion writing; it’s pure entertainment.

Now I am off to live vicariously through Ra as I sit on my couch blogging on a break from work with Yo Gabba Gabba on in the background.  Ahh to be in college again!

You can find The Air Conditioned Gypsy on my Blogroll or follow her on Bloglovin’!  Want to be a “Featured Friend”?  Email me your story at lowbrowjadey@yahoo.com

New Neutrals, Old Friends

My sister and I went out for some apps, drinks, pasta and bonding.  Ok…and toffee bread pudding.  It was a lovely night, so I don’t have a lot to joke about today.  Instead I will share an amazing text I got from my college roomate, who is expirementing with online dating:

I just got a message from a guy who has a picture of his naked lady arm tattoo and is clearly sitting on the tiolet.  And no it is not possible that he is using it just as a seat because the tiolet bowl cover can clearly be seen in the upright position!

Pure Comedy.  Thank you Frankie ;) .  And yes to the rest of my friends and loved ones, nothing is off limits.  You have been warned!

The one set back of getting married young (I had to lock that down) was I never really got to experiment with dating, online, speed, all the fun ones!  I live vicariously through my single friends and love to hear their battle stories.  In exchange I tell then baby poo stories.  Who is the winner in these relationships?

I used to consider wearing navy and black a crime of fashion, but I am loving it right now.  The color combination feels very updated for this time of the year.

I love wearing tees and tanks with a cute little detail.  The problem is is that I almost always wear a jacket or cardi over them.  The weather will be warm enough soon!

Trend Report, baby

Warning! Warning! Make sure you have effective birth control before viewing this post.  I saw this bathing suit at Target this weekend and couldn’t resist.  It is 50 SPF and has a G.D. Tutu!

How adorable is this?!  I want one.  I swear I have seen Juicy Couture swimsuits that look less adult.  The suit is SPF 50, so I just need a good bottle of sunscreen and a big floppy hat!

Hey Mommies!  Any suggestions on a great baby-beach hat with some SPF?

The Itch for Kitsch

I just wanted to have a little fun today!  Girly, juvenile, dance in my room fun.  I just got the cutest kitschy tee and accessories from I’m Your Present, so I decided to throw them all on and have a party.  Your instincts are correct, I throw sh*tty parties.

I think it is obvious by the last picture that I am a tranny at heart, or Heidi Montag *cough* one in the same *cough.*  I am also trying to look surprised but it reads as blowing a kiss, bleck.  It was too funny not to include though! Will I actually wear this outfit today?  No.  I will replace the cat earrings with the bows, through my hair in a bun and switch out the Barbie heels for simple flats.  That being said, fashion is fun! Is the phase “if you got em, flaunt em” appropriate?

Let’s address the second elephant in the room.  Yes I own a Hello Kitty Fender.  My husband was out-of-town for business a couple years ago and I used to be a VERY emotional shopper.

How cute is the packaging from I’m Your Present?  Not to mention that it included a little freebee: a vintage One Life to Live/General Hospital pin.  You better believe I watch my “stories, so that could not be more me.

Dirty Hippie

That’s the look I went for today and I totally nailed it.  I love this peasant top, it’s a couple sized too big so I usually tuck it into a skirt or higher jeans but all my really high-waisted jeans are too light for winter.  It also is pretty dirty because the linen fabric is VERY hard to clean.  What would a dirty hippie be without a couple vermin.  P.S. I had the best bagel sandwich today.

My secret is out I am actually a wind-up toy. (See last pic)

I was already late for an important work meeting that I was showing up to with my baby (whoops) so the quality of picture could be better but I think you get the idea! I am convinced Spring is coming.  F the Hog. I bought the peasant top and the necklace at our only local vintage shop and I never realized how hard it was to find handmade vintage peasant tops until after I bought this one and got the itch for more.

Dinner Date: Celebrating Health and Tax Returns

And gift certificates….We decided to use a gift card we have been hanging on to for a while to one of our favorite restaurants last night.  We brought the baby, which we almost didn’t, and that would have been a shame becasue she was the life of the party.  I am not joking when I say people were literally waiting in line to come up and see her eating her ritz crackers, dancing in her high chair to the live music and making silly faces.  The gutarist even came up and serenaded her.  Not going to lie, got a little misty eyed.  I’m such a softy sometimes.

But I digress. Here is my outfit.

I know I have been wearing a lot of pants but I really like pants!  I like my legs and I feel like they get lost in skirts.  Though I promise I will start upping the ante when the weather gets a little warmer.  I do not usually use my flash but I like the reflectiveness of this photo and that they are a little washed out.

For a tee and jeans outfit I think this is still fun and interesting, but what do I know my professional training is in Food Safety and we are not best known for our fashion sense.

Super Amazing Vintage 2.0

And guess what, it actually fits this time!  I cannot tell you how much of a sucker I am for anything with the following criteria: light, flowy, vintage, embroidered.  This is all of them.  I would be posting “daily pics” of this dress but I refuse to wear it without a straw fedora, it is also about 5*F but that is neither here nor there.

I got this dress from Crafty Crow Vintage, an amazing Etsy shop I stumbled upon.  I got it in the mail instantly and the condition is unbelievable.  It doesn’t even have that vintage smell!  I will wear this all summer long, if I can wait until then.  This is also inspiring me to get some of my clothes I plan to sell on Market Publique in order.  I have been holding off because I want to post the listing in appropriate seasons so they will sell.

The List

Ummm…well…the thing is… No this isn’t on “the list” but I have been looking for one of these dresses in my size forever and it is very hard not to jump on a fantastic piece like this.  It was only $28 so it won’t kill my budget.

Antique Me

By no means am I asking you to hide in my house and throw flour at me while I am sleeping. Ok, passed out.  I wanted to play with color today because my pictures came out a little dark so it took some editing to be able to see the fabrics, problem is, that really washed out the color.  So I antiqued myself.

I think it is evident that my skull is filled with brain-farts.  I can’t decide how to accessorize.  For day errands I kept it simple, when it got cooler this afternoon I threw on a blazer and headband.  I wanted to show off my pretty necklace so sorry for the no make-up close-up.

I have a major gripe with button-ups.  I understand that they are probably meant to be tailored but why must they ALL puff out so much at the hips?  I don’t need to add 10 lbs to my waist thank you. Also my tailor moved so I cry a little tear of loneliness whenever I look at my ill-fitting clothing, miss you!

Feature a Friend: Shopping the Closet

It’s a three in one ladies and gents! My headline is inaccurate because Shopping the Closet is written by three co-workers in fashion retailing.  Their message was simple.  No shopping for 4 whole months.  Just reworking their existing wardrobes without buying any new outfits.  Sounds simple right?  I didn’t think so either.  Well according them, it was an epic fail.  According to me, making it a month without any shopping, not too bad.  Now their blog has evolved into fashion, shopping (including thrifting), lifestyles and my personal favorite: occasional giveaways!

What is unique about their new and improved format is that all three women have different styles and perspective, including:

Eleanor a Mom of two with classic style

Steph a fashionable, recently engaged, 20-something

and Ang who looks way to good to be prego with her first little BABY!!

How could I not feature them? They went to the Jersey Shore House! I found out about Shopping the Closet via Weardrobe and Eleanor leaving sweet and insightful comments right here on Low Brow Style. Thanks for keeping me company ladies!
